Fewer accidents |
IATA has released accident figures for 2009 that show the year accident rate for Western-built jet aircraft: 1 accident in 1.400.000 flights, as the second lowest of aviation history. The lowest was 2006. It call my attention: First: the criteria used in spite the Wall of Berlin doesn't exists since 1989, this is 20 years ago. Second: According to the literature, 1 in 835.500 people are struck by lightning per year, while the fear of thunder and lightning, afflicts only 5 % of adults. Nevertheless 18% people find airplane travel to be a frightening experience even though. |
