From now on I'm not more the Section Manager, my position has been relinquished.
My position has been deleted of the organization chart!
The same salary but a lower title within the organization.
Most important for me is the nature of the work and the well-being of Aena but...
► Which one is more important; my salary or my position?. Would I be prepared to sacrifice position maintaining the salary?. Well A title can't pay the mortgage or feed my family. Money is objective. Title is subjective.
► Does the title I was given plays only to my ego? Well, titles do not translate easily between organizations and definitely not between industry sectors. But knowing I'm stalled, I'd start searching for a new position.
► How this change in authority would affect my resumé?. Well I can explain explain the titular demotion on my resume for example: the company re-aligned the structure to gain more stability and my position was relinquished.
When working for my former organization I've once negotiated my job title (along with salary and other benefits) to ensure that my career kept advancing but at the end of the day I was doomed to resign. I negotiated because I was focused on the long term, so I thought it might be better for me to opt for the title in order to achieve my career goals.
Then I've made a quick switch to Aena, my title dropped as did my pay. However, I have a greater responsibility, broader duties, and what I do matters. Till now!!!
