I have a friend who is a transportation executive, a generalist in aeronautics, a professional, and one of his objectives is to recareer as an executive in an international or intergovernmental organization. The last year he has applied for several positions e.g.: SESAR Joint Undertaking, EASA, IATA , Eurocontrol etc. I've recommended him that to succeed in his career he has to emulate someone as Daniel Calleja, role models are important. Languages Skill and education are important too but I've found that there is a common denominator between people that succeeded in intergovernmental organization: This is previous experience in the European Commission or as a communications and political affairs professional or they have worked for the Public Relations and Communications industry. Otherwise you are the an expert with a high degree of skill and a very large experience in certain unique subject or you are not going to have the job.
